Life’s a drag

June 3rd, 2007

Well I’ve not posted anything for a while as I’ve been away. I took a trip back to the UK to see the parents and have a bit of a holiday.

My first weekend back in Wellington has been interesting. Last night we went to see my flatmate, Sonny, compete in Miss Drag Wellington 2007 at Imerst. Some fabulous outfits and great performances but I still don’t know who won as I left at 3.30am, too tired to keep going. Anyway Sonny looked very glam in his various outfits and his live performance was excellent.

Update:Sonny came third!

Trip to Pluto

April 7th, 2007

I went to see Pluto at San Francisco Bathhouse on Thursday night. It’ a great venue for live music - much better than Mighty, Mighty was last week. I’d not heard any of Pluto’s music before but it was an awesome gig. They also played a few ‘exclusives’ that they will be recording soon and if these were anything to go by their next album is going to be good too.

My friend, Sibylle, and I are on a month long abstinence from coffee and alcohol, so I was strictly on soda and lime for the evening. Even without the alcohol though, it was a great evening!

Aaaah - Woolly Jumpers

March 31st, 2007

Sheep in Civic SquareAt lunch yesterday, I went to see installation by Gregor Kregar in Civic Square. It consists of 12 sheep dressed in brightly coloured woollen jumpers. They were really cute.

Mummies and music

March 30th, 2007

Well last night, I combined a visit to the Eygptian exhibition at Te Papa with the launch of Age Pryor’s new album at Mighty, Mighty. The exhibition was really well done, focusing on the funeral customs of the period. It’s not a big exhibition but quite detailed with some really interesting stuff, like mummified animals and translations from Books of the Dead.

The album launch was okay but it wasn’t the greatest venue for it. The first act was a guy singing with an accoustic guitar, who it was really heard to hear. Age Pryor was really good but again there was still quite alot of background noise and it was baking hot in there.

Untouched World

March 30th, 2007

On Tuesday, I went to the opening of the new Untouched World store in Wellington. There were lots of gorgeous clothes, though way above my price range. I also got to introduced to Helen Clarke, the Prime Minister of New Zealand. It’s probably not that exciting to most Kiwis but my Mum was impressed!

Anyway, it was a good evening with lovely wine and nibbles. The goody bag was pretty great too, including Green & Blacks chocolate, lip balm and a lipstick.

First photo page added

March 28th, 2007

I’ve just added my first photo page, which will show pictures from my trip in November round the north island. So take a look.

Mount Vic - veni, vidi, vici

March 28th, 2007

View from Mount VicOkay so it wasn’t quite conquered but on Sunday, I did manage to walk all the way up Mount Victoria. I’m pretty proud of this and still slight amazed that I made it, considering that about 9months ago, I was walking with a stick.

@media 2007

February 14th, 2007

I’ve booked my ticket for @media 2007 now - in San Francisco. I’m pretty excited about going. The sessions that I’m looking forward to the most are Bulletproof Ajax and The Mysteries of JavaScript-Fu. Luckily my plane doesn’t leave until the evening on the 26th so I should get a bit of a look round San Francisco too.

Finally - my first post

February 4th, 2007

Finally I’ve got my blog up - I’ve decided just to go with the default theme for the moment and work that out later. Instead I will finally get on with writing posts - if I can find something to say.
